Fifty years since Page 3’s birth its most famous models tell their personal stories to answer the question – was it good or bad for women?
The film takes us from the finishing school graduates of the 70s to the surgically-enhanced superstars of the noughties as Sam Fox, Jilly Johnson, Maria Whittaker and Keeley Hazell describe the highs and lows of their extraordinary fame, while Rhian Sugden and Emma Morgan give emotional interviews about the misery that came with tabloid scandal.
Looking back on it now, many of the models are shocked at how young they were. Hannah Claydon describes the countdown to her debut at the age of 16 and Debee Ashby speaks movingly of her decision to quit the industry in the late 80s. Page 3’s critics in parliament and social media are also interviewed to tell the definitive story of a bizarre and uniquely British institution – where for decades it seemed normal for women to be taking their tops off in national newspapers…
