James is responsible for overseeing legal and business affairs for the Optomen group having joined Optomen in October 2007 as their Head of Legal & Business Affairs.
James qualified as a solicitor in 1994 and worked as a business affairs executive in a multimedia company for two years. He then began his television career at the BBC in 1996 where he worked as a commercial lawyer, subsequently as a legal & business affairs manager in Drama Independent Commissions and finally as Head of Business Affairs for BBC Music and Radio.
He then joined RDF Media in January 2002 and as their Head of Legal & Business Affairs, working across both production and distribution for all the companies in the RDF Group including RDF Media (factual, factual entertainment and drama), RDF Rights (international distribution, merchandising and ancillary products), Touchpaper Television (drama), Radar Productions (entertainment), The Comedy Unit, RDF Family (children’s drama) and RDF USA (factual and factual entertainment).
In October 2008, James was appointed Director of Legal & Business Affairs.
