Gordon has always loved curry, and he’s not alone – curry is one of Britain’s favourite dishes – and now he finds out how to authentically cook the classics and try his hand at some of the most renowned regional dishes.
Gordon travels to the north to try rich lamb curries and koftas; passing through the arid landscape of Rajasthan to see how a lack of water led to ingenious cooking techniques; journeying through the foothills of the Himalayas to try pure Hindu vegetarianism; to the coasts of Kerala for the ultimate seafood curries, and finally to the slums of Mumbai to meet people who take enormous pride in their cuisine despite appalling living conditions.
Gordon’s gastronomic adventure takes him through breath-taking mountain passes by motorbike, via the throng of the world’s busiest markets and dense jungle. He pitches camp on windswept beaches, and rides a camel through blistering desert heat, on a journey that reveals the stunning scenery of India and the diverse array of its people.
