On December 15, 2009 at 9pm, millions of viewers across America joined Gordon Ramsay on Fox as he cooked a three-course meal in the US premiere of Cookalong Live.
Along with celebrity guests Whoopi Goldberg, comic Cedric the Entertainer, country singer LeAnn Rimes and actress Alyson Hannigan, Gordon led and checked in with everyday home cooks across the US as he taught viewers his Cookalong Live menu of angel hair pasta with shrimp, steak Diane and quick tiramisu.
The special cooked up a strong performance for Fox and received critical acclaim too. Wendy Mitchell of Entertainment Weekly found the show “a huge amount of fun, I had a smile on my face watching the show, and I certainly had a great meal to show for it.” Viewers who had cooked along were full of praise for the show and it generated a wave of comments on social networking sites: “This was the most fun I have ever had watching TV,” “I can't tell you how many times I watch cooking shows wishing I could taste what they're making while they're making it. I finally got to and it was awesome!!” and "Just loved the whole program.....sure hope there is another flambe in our future!”
