‘Kevin McCloud's Escape to the Wild’ ran away with impressive viewing figures and critical praise for its debut episode on Monday 8 June 2015.  The new series launched with a fantastic 2.24 million total viewers at 9pm on Channel 4 & Ch4+1 and won an impressive 10.5% of the total audience share.

In the new series, Kevin McCloud travels the globe in search of incredible stories of ordinary people who have quit the rat-race and moved to some of the most remote places on the planet and poses the question: Does a simpler, more creative life make you happier?

Sam Wollaston, TV critic at The Guardian wrote, "great television that even led to a discussion in my house. Shall we, like Karyn and Boris and their boys here, sell up and go and live on a South-Pacific-Island paradise? In the end, we decided against it."

Ellen E Jones, of The Independent said, "The show was a tribute to those who have the energy to really make a go of their great escape, but also a sobering reality-check for the majority of desk-bound daydreamers. It's challenging enough to build your own home in the UK; imagine if the building materials were limited to some coral and a few palm trees."

‘Kevin McCloud's Escape to the Wild’ is an Optomen Television production for Channel 4.
