Over the last decade Great British Menu has provided a benchmark for the most amazing food Britain has to offer. Hundreds of our finest chefs have been inspired, in the spirit of competition, to push the gastronomic boundaries for the opportunity to represent their region and win a place on a menu served for special guests at a prestigious banquet.
Each week three chefs compete in a regional heat under the watchful gaze of a seasoned veteran. They’ll have to devise a 4 course menu (Starter, Fish, Main and Dessert) befitting of the series banquet. The competition is intense as they’re scored on each course daily by our veteran chef. At the end of the week there’s no time to rest as the two highest scoring chefs will go head to head in front of the judges hoping to progress to the national finals and, ultimately, to win their place on the banquet menu.
Over ten series our chefs have prepared food fit for a Queen’s Birthday, wowed the international gastronomic elite, staged a home-coming dinner for British forces, tickled the nation’s funny bones for Comic Relief and honoured the sporting achievements of our greatest Olympians.
